Periodontal Care

The Periodontium is the medical term that applies to the tissues surrounding the tooth and holding it in place.

The alveolar bone, the periodontal ligaments holding teeth to bone and the gingiva (AKA the GUMS) are all parts of the periodontium.

Good care of the periodontal health will give protection from so many regular problems that face so many people as loose teeth, sensitivity, bad breath, pocket formation, periodontal abcesses, formation of septic foci and more.

Also there are some periodontal conditions that may face some people such as ulcers, erosions, enlargement of gingiva of pregnant women which is known medically as pregnancy tumor and more.

Some people complain about some esthetic problems like gummy smile or dark gums. Some cases can be treated conservatively and some needs surgical intervention.

But the patient cooperation and home care is the most important step in periodontal care.

Our periodontist will study your case thoroughly and decide the best path of treatment for it, and will provide you with the best program of self care steps that will assure keeping your periodontal health as fit as it can be.
